ASCENDING

& the point at which things begin to unravel

ASCENDING is a group exhibition exploring the point at which things begin to unravel. It is a lovely line-up of artists: Alvaro Samuel Castro, Henrietta Armstrong, Kadie Salmon, Kirsty Harris, Melanie King, and me. The exhibition responds to Atrium Space, an unusual gallery that unfolds across a staircase, with works encountered as you move upward.

As we ascend, we fall apart.

Bird’s nest. Fields burn, and the birds return. Relics are created, and we bathe in nature's sacred water. Donkeys fall upstairs. Glaciers hover frozen in time. Bombs become everyday clouds.

And we know, really, we are already up there with the stars. Yet, we return home, again and again, to the foot of our favourite mountain.
